Book on the Bookshelf.

The Book on the Bookshelf
Henry Petroski
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1999.

The author describes the growing problem through the centuries of finding enough shelf space for books. The final answer will probably be electronic books in some more readable format than exists today, but, the author worries, what will happen if some rogue decides to sabotage the electronic text and the books and the ideas are lost with no back-up copies? Concludes with the many different ways to arrange books on shelves: author's last name; title; subject; size; horizontally; color; hadbacks and paperbacks; publisher; read/unread books; order of acquisition; order of publication; price; new and used; enjoyment; sentimental value.
